Read it and weep!!! :D :D :D

But it was too little, too late and England knew it. Australia are back to their best and they will take vital psychological points away from this match - as well as the silverware.

Maybe you'd like to read the whole article....

Gilchrist's ton takes Australia home in style

What do you fellows think of the new rules allowing substitutes to bat and field, and moving fielding restrictions in five over blocks throughout an innings?

Bad luck Poms... only Pietersen seemed to enjoy that (he wouldn't be a Yarpie would he... and what was he thinking with that hairstyle... Pepe Le Pew?). Bring on the Ashes. :D
Having watched recently and not really getting too much into the rules and why they came about, IMHO opinion the new super-sub rule sucks and the "powerplay" rule seems to over-complicate things while having no discernable influence on the game. If they keep going this way, we'll have "fielding sides" and "batting sides" and we'll wind up with a game like Grid Iron. Interested to see what the others think.

Re: Dunaruna, Kiwi Phil & Get Reel

Whatever the changes, let us pray it never becomes like 'grid iron', with it's specialised 'sides'.
If Australia continues to dominate I fear there will be changes introduced to 'level things up' as opposed to the other teams coming up to the required standard.
Crickets governing body has to be still in the dark ages when you consider the fiasco looming over Zimbabwe vs New Zealand. I thought I heard they were going to level a $3m fine on NZ if it dosn't host Zimbabwe. Mugawbe (sp!) wins again.
Personally I believe there should be at least 2 grades or divisions for international teams.
Cheers
Phillip

The new rules are only for the one dayers, aren't they?

Mugawbe is a real piece of work. It's a shame that sportsmen should be dragged into politics but a message needs to be sent, any message.

NZ should extent the middle finger to the relevent cricket organisation if they are penalised for not hosting Zimbabwe.

Aldo

The new rules definately suck. The rules give a big advantage to the team batting second (would'nt have helped the poms in the last game) The ICC should stop medlying with the rules.
As far as two divisions, good idea. It would give teams like Banglasesh a more leval playing field.
Lets see,
Division 1. Australia, South Africa, India, Windies
Division 2. England, Bangladesh, New south wales.
Seriously, one problem that I see would be some of the asian contries may accuse the others of a White league and a black league, however I think it may encorage some emerging countries get into cricket.
Imagine the Yanks playing cricket!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh no, don't show the Yanks how to use a cricket bat. I can just see them hanging it over their shoulder...........
Seriously though, if they took the sport to heart, it wouldn't take long before they made the A Division with their resourses. Plus they wouldn't take too long to introduce Cheer Leaders in skimpy outfits, and "between overs" entertainment. Wow, what would the Gentlemen at Lords say to all that. Wouldn't beat throwing a half full tinny at a sweeper though.
Cheers
Phillip

The new rules don't make sense, but maybe it is an attempt to make limited overs more like 20/20.

Thankfully I think they are not going to be introduced full time.

Good to see u posting Chris. I will try to get the boat on the water soon.

What a shame we couldn't bat 50 overs.

GR

I've had a chance to watch the match and I'm not quite as dispondant as I was yesterday (see "oh boll0cks").

OK so you batted, bowled and fielded better than us. I can live with that, but when it came to the really important stuff like SINGING we beat you hands down and all edges up. Victory is Englands I feel. :p :p

I've lots fo views on rule changes but I'll save them for another post

As for warm, cloudy, smelly & 12%abv beer, that is the way the good lord meant it to be. A real mans drink.(lets face it lager is for the girls over here) :D :D

I doubt they'd have the patience for the five days of play. After all, they need a "We'll be back in 30 seconds" between the ads on the tube. Then they'd complain about no result after those five days. No, I think it's best if we didn't try to civilize them too much. :D

Chris............

Oh, come on now dunaruna, if you know the movie it is very funny. My comments are not that esoteric. Everyone needs a cerebreal laxative now and again. :)
18 year old scotch? That must be the better part of a boat payment. ;)
I came down to have my prostrate pee and noticed the new additions to my threads. By my calculations it is now about 16:30 tomorrow there.
;) Keep up the good work and when is your next promotion party?
