Duo prop?

What are the advantages of running a duo prop over a single in a 23' boat?

Didn't mean to!!!! I had that question included with my other post. I deleted that part of it and thought better to put in in the correct forum!

More efficient
Better control in reverse
Better tracking forward
No torque steer at given speeds
Usually lower top speed
Higher initial cost
Expensive prop sets

Additional plusses:

Faster to plane
Able to hold a lower speed and still be on plane
Less "blowout" in tight turns while on plane
More "bite" at idle speeds in both forward and reverse

Additional minuses:

Faster speed in gear at idle (you'll hit stuff going faster than you'd like)
Increased risk of corrosion to the outdrive (Bravo 3 especially but also VPs with stainless steel props)

The slower top speed is not much, btw. 1-3 mph, tops, depending on horsepower.

The advantages of a counter rotating prop system far outweigh the disadvantages.
