Second post here folks,

50HP Evinrude, 2 stroke. Electric start and has what I believe to be an electric choke system turned on by a solenoid. I have 2.5 ohms when leads put on solenoid lead and ground (both block or bolt as in photo).
When switched to VDC I have zero when the key is turned into the ON position and pushed in. I also do not hear a click or see the plunger suck in and close the choke. This leads me to believe I am not getting voltage to the solenoid for it to close but my solenoid may actually still be good.
There is also a lever at the throttle for choke which I believe to be disabled so that the electric choke runs the show. (See photo)
Either way, only way I can close choke and run engine is by manually closing the flaps and then engine starts.

???----There is a lever on the control box that operates throttle only.-----Must be raised for cold starting.-----If electric choke does not work then use manual choke lever at the carburetors on the motor for cold starting.-----Move manual choke lever to off after motor has started.------After short warm-up lever on control box is lowered for idle.----Then big lever is used for normal operation !

The 2nd grade explanation is much appreciated! Haha but fortunately I figured that part out on my own. Some time in the past the linkages for the manual choke were removed and so it is not operable. Just got my Seloc manual in last night so I should be able to piece it back together and run manual if need be. Good to know that you can run the manual choke as a backup though, thanks for the knowledge! Originally I thought once you had the electric choke the manual was disconnected

Got the choke working. Looks like the wires weren’t hooked up correctly. Purple with white stripe wire runs the 12v to the solenoid when key turned to on position and depressed, works great now. They PO had this brown wire hooked up to the solenoid. Doesn’t seem to carry a charge ever, any clue as to where it should go? Or maybe just capped and left alone? Possibly for a different model engine or other accessories I’m thinking…00DD2AE0-DAED-4EE4-BEBE-559AC37D0E12.jpeg
