Re: Eagle Cam

The night cam is starting to pickup the thunder and lightning.
And mom grabs some much needed rest before the storms.

Great op for a family photo. I haven't seen mom and dad together in the nest this long.

Re: Eagle Cam

I just saw all 3 youngin's alone in the nest!
Mom took off for a 3 minute cruise- I watched her leave the right side of the screen and saw her soaring in the background moving R to L.
The chicks barely moved until Mom came home, and now it's lunchtime:)

Cool. Ma was screeching for dad. She's was doing a 360 with her head while calling him. Didn't take long for dad to show up. Wonder what he did this time??!!

Re: Eagle Cam

Dad is at his apartment tonight again.
Well, his apartment is a branch to the left out of camera view.

Lot's of cool info in the text below the cam screen.
There's a good documentary down there, too...

I never thought I'd post a PBS link, but American Eagle does give a great background to this project.

Re: Eagle Cam

The 3 Amigos are getting big enough where ma can't really cover them completely anymore. I guess for a couple of nights an owl was harrassing them. There's a rat and fish on the nest now. Seems to be the top 2 items on the table. I guess they throw a rabbit on every now and then.....

Hmm, Mom and Dad looking a little worse for wear this morning. Does not look like snap, crackle, and pop will get much playtime today....

Re: Eagle Cam

I wish I had remembered to check on them earlier while it was still snowing. I live about 125 miles straight south of the eagles and woke up to about 1-2 inches and still coming down hard. All melted off now.

Re: Eagle Cam

Pretty unpleasant in the nest today. Snow this morning, rain now and 20-30 mph wind. I think Mom's wishing they'd roofed that darn thing.

Re: Eagle Cam

Really windy at the 'ol homestead today. Everybody's hunkered down. Not quite a month old, and the youngin's can't fit under Mom anymore. Man, they grow up fast!

Re: Eagle Cam

Dad brought in a live rabbit in a chaotic downwind landing a bit ago.

Decorah milestones
"E1 hatched 4/2; E2 hatched 4/3; E3 hatched 4/6. 3-4 weeks: Gray secondary down, 1 foot tall, and 4-5lbs. 4-5 weeks: They can tear their own food. 5-6 weeks: Black juvie feathers in and unfurling, eaglets as large as parents. 10-13 weeks: Time to fledge."

That puts fledge in early July...The 4th would be most appropriate! :D
