I am just trying to find out if a early 1990 125 force's parts will interchange with a 1987 125 force. Lower unit, brain boxes, etc.

Welcome to iboats.

125 was made from 1984 thru 1989.

Starting in 1990, it was 120hp.

ignition systems did change during that time, but it depends on the specific year, and the model number.

Yes, 125 hp lower units from 1984-1989 should be interchangeable.

Just about everything is swappable with caveats: Early prestolite ignitions used quick connect fittings so the whole ignition system must be swapped if you don't want to do wiring work Carbs, flywheel, pistons, blocks, heads, tilt/trim, lower units--basically all the same.
