As you folks know, I've been looking for a 18ss and debating on a complete resto project.
Now I've located a minty 1973 18ss with original seats, floors, transom etc. still intact. Its been used little (3-4 times/yr) and always stored inside. This boat is splash ready.
The original trailer and motor have been replaced. It now has a newer shorelander roller trailer (that fits boat ) with new led lights, 2 speed winch, tires, etc. and a 1985 115 Merc. The motor has been on it for about 4 years, but used little.
The merc is a long shaft, so a manual jackplate was installed to elevate the motor.
I'm a bit worried about the potential effects the jackplate arrangement might have on the transom. It seems like the weight of the motor and fulcrum point would be changed such that damage would be likely to occur.
Whadda think?
