Starting to winterize da boat.
Mover her to her "sleeping spot" in the yard.
Figured I check my "no oil" alarm. (I knew it worked I get the quick "beep" with the key, but what the heck, lets play).......
Popped the cover off, checked the alarm, (yep it beeps when grounded) and was playing with the motor.
I turned the electric primer lever (cuz it's a lever and it's RED, just begging to be played with!), it came out in my hands!!!!!!!!!!!
(the valve is closed) and can be open/closed by putting the lever back in and pressing on it and turning.
Open, fuel comes out of the red shaft of the lever, but, closed nice and dry.
Should I replace this lever or just leave it alone? (I was thinking maybe try to epoxy it back on).
(I noticed it was hard to start last few weeks, had to open the throttle, (I didn't at the start of the season) didn't seem like when I pushed the key in it was working, (after it fired and was sputtering I figured it'd rev up or?? but seemed like nothing), but would fire none the less).
I chaulked it up to tinkering with the idle mixture and I believe have it a bit lean, but maybe the solniod is bad or the broken lever had something to do with it?
I dunno HOW or WHEN the lever got broken, but I noticed it now.
I gonna test it tonight, IF I turn the key on, press the key in, I should feel? hear? the click?
Should I add that to my "to do" list?
Anyone ever had one apart?
Joe
For a boat that need "nothing" the list is getting longer n longer!!

I am having a hard time visualizing what you are talking about. Post a picture or three.

Yeah, hard to explain! The red lever goes into the top piece. It's a 5/16" shaft, hollow for a shrader valve to fit in.
Maybe 1/2 way down the shaft snapped off
I have a hard enough time, let alone post pics!!!
Well up date, going from one job site to the next, I made a detour.
Uncovered the boat, took my multi meter, test light, a few jumper leads and dove into.
With the key on, engine cover off, I can HEAR the solnoid clicking when I push the key in, and the test light came on.........
So I know it's working, (at least the electrical part.
I put a bit of epoxy on the lever shaft and pushed it in there.
IF the epoxy sticks the lever fast, well.......
I ordered the top, lever, "O" ring and diaphram, $60 or a shy less...........
I also saw a "good Used" unit on Ebay for $110 ish, if it was a anchor..........

That's IT!!
No maybe 3/16' down the shaft from the lever it broke.
I epoxied it Friday, and left it to dry for the weekend.
I'll go today and see it it turns.
If it snaps or is expoied in place, well, the parts will be here soonth.

Epoxy is futile. This piece will be bathed in fuel. Not worth risking in my opinion. Either way, you will need to get another gasket for the solenoid, along with the cover plate (that has the fuel line outputs in it.

Yes, epoxy was a waste of time.
I went home after work, went to turn the lever and snap............ off it came!
Now I THINK I epoxied the rest of the shaft in the cover, (good thing I ordered one of those).
Well, never one to leave a good thing alone....................
Email says the parts are on their way...................
The boat isn't going anywhere, lots of "other" things to do, ( lower unit service, remove deck carpet, new fuel pump, make a temp gauge hook up, a new lure storage thingie............ The list goes on, (this is a boat I thought needed nothing but a good cleaning)....................

Dude, tell me about it!!! Owning a boat (that you actually care about) is an on-going project. I can remember many times in my boat-owning career, thinking "but when am I actually going to be able to fish?"
