Electrical Trouble Shooting Help

I just had a new battery installed (less then a month ago) with a higher cranking output which helped resolve my previous starting problems. Now, I recently attempted to install an electric fuel gauge and sending unit, and in doing so, I unplugged an accessory outlet which I did not use, with the intention of using those leads in the installation of the fuel gauge. Since I have done that, I lost mostly all the power to any items, however the depth finder is making a ringing sound, indicating it is at least receiving power. No other item is receiving power, tilt/trim wont activate, ignition wont crank, and electric fuel pump, bilge pump, nothing else has power.

Where do I start? May I need a new regulator/rectifier?

Thanks

Start by troubleshooting the problem before you start throwing expensive parts at it. Get a shop manual, a VOM meter and start checking.

did you accidentally hook the pos to neg and neg to pos. have you checked your fuse panel, or do you have fused switches. there is an inline fuse near the starter solenoid, in a red case, it provides power to the control, starting circuit, and trim & tilt. why do you have an electric fuel pump?

Re: Electrical Trouble Shooting Help

The electric fuel pump was already installed when I purchased the boat. Is the presence of an electric fuel pump a negative? If so, I'm open to alternatives or recommendations. All the fuses in the panel were okay. I have not checked the inline fuse yet, but will do so.

Thanks for your time and advice.
