engine keeps cranking when key is off - HELP

I have a 95 chris craft 30 crown - twin ford omc cobras

When I turn the ignition switch i get gauges - then when I turn it to engage starter - the starter will engage and will not stop even when key is turned back to off. I have to turn the battery off to stop it from cranking.

I replaced the ignition switch and it does the same thing.

The port motor is fine and does not have this problem.

You have a bad (sticking) starter solenoid.

Try tapping the solenoid (when it is stuck) with the handle of a hammer or screw drive to it up.

Purchase a new part. Turn off Battery

Replace one wire at a time as not to get mixed up.
