I'm sorry I am a complete newbie here and I bought my first boat over the weekend and was wondering a few questions 1. do I need to mix oil in the gas a 2 stroke or is it a four stroke engine is 85093D and 2. Does anyone know were I can find a choke solenoid for it which I can't seem to find. If it is a 4 stroke how do I change oil in it and if it isn't what type of oil and at what mixture. I'm sorry for all the basic info but I did search and came up with alot of reading and no real answers, so thanks in advance for the help.

First off, get a manual. Look here in the parts and acc section.
Parts and Assessories

1 its a 1970 85 hp
2 its 2 stroke
3 Mix is 50:1 TCW3 2 stroke oil and regular gas.
4 the choke soleniod should be available here used.
Vans Sport Center
you will have to call them and give the model number year and so on.

Re: engine questions

That is a 1970 Evinrude 85HP, Refuse2.

It is a 2 stroke, so you will need to mix 1 part TC-W3 certified outboard oil to 48 parts unleaded regular gasoline. We usually call that 50:1, but if you put a pint of oil into six gallons of gas it comes out 48:1.

Now that you know the make and model you should be able to get the choke solenoid at any Evinrude dealer.

Good luck, and welcome to iboats. :)

Re: engine questions

Thanks, that's what I thought that it was 2 stroke because I can smell it in the fuel and the guy I bought it from said it was a 4 stroke but he owned it 4 years and never put it in the water so goes to show what he doesn't know, but thanks again everyone.
