Engine year etc.

I am not having any luck finding out what year this mercruiser engine is. The serial is A564540 and the tag says mcm 140 model. But I can't find the year and liter size of the engine. Can someone help?

It's an Older 3.0l, 181cid, 140hp, 4 cylinder Chevy motor from Mercruiser ,.....

What's the Problem,... Why are you trying to Nail down the Date,..??

It's between 82 and 86 for the SN range of OEM parts.
In the service manual (#10 for your SN) it shows your SN as also having an Alpha I outdrive (NOT an R or MR) so that puts the year up to either 85 or 86 (both the same).
If you want to be more specific, contact your local Merc dealer with Mercnet and they can get you the exact year. But there really isn't much need for it. Parts are ordered by serial number and the manual for your engine is #10.

If it sat in a yard for 2 years before selling the warranty date means nothing.
Do you have access to Mercnet Muc?
