didn't get a chance this weekend to get the eska out on the water as my daughters birthdays consumed all of our time. its a monsoon today so hopefully the weather will clear out in a day or two and i'll get a chance to see if the different jets make a difference.

we had 4 inches of rain yesterday down here in the S IL buts its clear and cool today.

Since you brought this whole jet buisness up I have been thinking about all of those ebay carbs and giveme engines I have had, chances are alot of the bad running and idle issues could be jet related...as in people swapping parts from AV 600, 750 to AV 817 etc etc etc, my 7.5 deluxe needs more fuel at idle and I think I'm pulling air around the idle adjustment screw...I think I will get out my tiny drill set and bump the jet up a tiny bit.

When I got that engine the idle adjustment screw had a rubber O ring and flat brass washer under the idle screw spring to seal the hole I'm sure it was this way from the factory....I had never seen one complete before.

i don't know what time it started but it hasn't stopped since we woke up to get the kids off to school this morning. i am really curious to see how the swapping of jets will impact the engine under load. i had it in a bucket and just being in neutral playing with the throttle the engine idled and had smooth acceleration, but that was not under load. i've often wondered if an old snowblower high speed needle with the adjustment in the jet would work, as the same way on the old tecumseh's when you get the blower under load and fine tune the high speed jet for optimum performance. just a thought to ponder over, sometimes i have too much time and i over think things if that is possible. LOL

checked the rain guage yesterday, 5 inches of rain in 30 hours. sun looks like it wants to come out but still good chance of rain today. maybe i'll get to float the boat on the water tomorrow and do a jet change. looks like a day to tinker in the garage or the basement.been searching online for a 2 stroke 2 cylinder tachometer, does anyone know of a particular model that would last.

Re: eska 9.9 to a 15hp?

thanks for the link on the tach. i got to get out this weekend for a few hours with the different jets, the 631811 seemed to idle and run smoother but i wasn't sure about the top end. my friend thought it ran better but i'm still wanting to put a tach on it for verification. there is a sound that i still haven't been able to achieve from the motor that i'm used to on 2-strokes. again i wonder if an old tecumseh snowblower jet that can be adjusted instead of the automatic jets would work? next time out i'll have to remember to do a plug check after wot and check the color of the tips to see if the new jetting will foul out the plugs.next update hopefully will be soon, although i have better luck fishing in the ponds in my nieghborhood than i do on the lakes in our area. makes me wonder why i have a boat and i just don't fish from shore?
