Re: eska overhaul
ok so i checked the compression and with one pull i got a lil over 100, and with 5-6 pulls it gave me 135. i did this 3 times and i got the same each time. so the internals seems ok.<br />i started to check the foot and i must be a fool, because i have no manual but plan on getting one. i took off the skeg which had 4 screws and drained the gear case. the gears look good no sings of wear. i then tried to take off the "foot". i had a 1/2 hex head bolt in the rear which came off easy. in the front there is a sloted screwdriver bolt/ screw. and of course the metal is soft and the head is useless now. im going to try a craftsman screwout, its worked before. if this doesnt work what should i try? i have no access to heat/torch so could i drill it out? also when this screw comes off should the foot just come off? how or where does the drive shaft seperate? please help. this is my first outboard repair.
