The O rings go on the connector at the end of the hose. They can be got at any OMC dealer or most aftermarket places. They solve a lot of pressure tank leaks.

wtf please reply to my posts

Ok, well you're young and impatient. But you've got to realize you can't talk to people the way you do your buddies when your playing Halo on the Xbox. They won't put up with it.

Unfortunately you have to use these specific ones. The ones from generic oring assortments won't work. These are much fatter for their diameter than any from an assortment. The OMC part number is 301824. Sierra part number 18-7111. Really ideally you should get a whole tank rebuild kit and replace the diaphragm and everything. Chances are it's getting to be in the same shape as the orings. laingsoutboards.com sells the kit which includes the orings and everything. FT1 for tanks with the plastic primer button. FT2 for tanks with the metal primer button.

you may find the fuel pump costly. I use Minkuni pumps for mine. there is a thread on here on how to convert them.

Re: evinrude 10hp qd-23

ive seen pictures of it and its pretty small and some like that cost a lot? lol my atv's fuel pump is like a penatgon and its like 3 times a as big. im guessing its cause it rare? or not in manufacturing? oh ya by the way my atv's is mukuni i think since its carb is mikuni
is there and performance difference in a fuel pump or pressure tank? or anything like easier starting?

ya im going to napa right now after i get the serial number for my other motor a 1962 merc 500

oh do they still make those kind of fuel pumps? cause i might by one if there something better about them vs pressure tanks

It'll be interesting to see what happens with the 7111. The Sierra catalog says 7111 comes as a package of one. Of course the catalog could be wrong. Wouldn't be the first time.

As far as having no more problems. I certainly hope so too. But I got involved in the conversation a little late. So I don't know what all has been checked. Have you looked at the ignition system at all? The coils should be inspected to see if they are original or whether they have been replaced at some point in the past. Replace the condensers, Check the points and either clean and reset or replace them. Spark plug wires if they are at all questionable. And then there's the recoil starter. How does the rope look? And the recoil spring. These are all things that can leave you paddling if neglected. Good luck!

Re: evinrude 10hp qd-23

ya the rope is fine and i tightened the screw for the recoil starter and checked the spring and it looked good. lol next time u ask me to check about something tell me what to check for lol but my idea is that its ok.

the electical stuffed u talked about my dad talked about that before my grandfather changed but who knows how long ago that was. ya i justed replaced the t stat today i put the new one for about 20$ the old t stat was about 1/4 inch open the other one close the way it should be.
i havent tooken off the flywheel yet so who knows what under there.

the spark plug wires i guess r ok and dont know if there even parts for that too but u guys know. and condensers and what evr there called replacable too? how much money? and when me and my friend checked the spark plug for sparks it was blue or red he said and doubt it was strong so ya guess its time for replacing. and im going to test out my gearcase is shifting right and check if the motor ovr heats or not with the new t stat before i go and take ervything apart again

ok when i take the flywheel off what should i excatly be looking for. im very concerned about electrical stuff on motors since there really comeplicated with all the ground points and such. i mean what a point anyways. i basically know squat about this stuff please explain carefully and clearly thanks

Re: evinrude 10hp qd-23

You should be able to inspect the coils, points, and condensors without taking the flywheel off. Sometimes the flywheel can be a pain to get off. There should be a small plate on the top of the flywheel held on by two screws. If you remove that plate, you should be able to slowly turn the flywheel and look at each part. There are 2 coils, 2 points, and 2 condensors. The coils are the big round things. When you look at them, you want to check for cracks in the outer part of the coil. If there are any cracks, they should be replaced. When you look at the points (contact points), they will look like 2 metal pieces that come together with springs attached. The purpose of the contact points is to open and close at the right time to send the spark to the spark plug. Each point controls a different cylinder. The main thing you want to make sure with your points is that they are making good contact.

Of course, if you find cracks in your coils, you will want to replace everything, because everything is probably pretty old.

Re: evinrude 10hp qd-23

Coils run about $25 apiece, points about $8 condensers about $4. You should be able to get 4' of 7mm copper core spark plug wire at you neighborhood auto parts store for 4 or 5 bucks. Look for an auto parts store that leans toward the performance side of things. I got some at my local Car Quest store. They had to rummage around in the back for a bit but they found it. Of course it was bright *&% yellow! Looks super spiffy on my Holiday Bronze motor! Hopefully someone has replaced the coils at some point. As BSD mentions above, look at the coils if they are a natural yellowed epoxy color you will see them all cracked up in the epoxy. If they've been replaced they'll be either a pastel green color or dark green or dark red or dark blue plastic. Those will likely be fine. It's the old epoxy coils that always fail. Good luck!

Re: evinrude 10hp qd-23

Here's what you're looking for on the coils. You can see the cracks in the epoxy.

And here are my wonderful yellow wires. They are called "Tiger Tails" from standard motor products  . They may have it at auto zone, depends on how much they cater to the racer types. If they do it's a sure bet it'll be found on some dusty back shelf somewhere. Also try the nearest outboard dealer. Doesn't have to be Evinrude. The local Mercury/Mariner/Force dealer might have it too. Good luck!
