And if that balsa core material has somehow gotten water in it , then it might be compromised in strength.

Nearly all of the 90s jet boat hulls are balsa cored. This gave them strength and light weight vs a solid hull

Some boats today still use balsa core on decks

The area you have circled on your pic looks like part of the core is exposed

So there is wood around where the jet pump sits and the front one is damaged form the boat striking something. A good cleaning and inspection of the whole hull with a detailed inspection and some sort of repair is needed in this area.

Cabin had 45cm in one storm, got the sleds our for a spin :) but had to shovel out the boat, elevate the front and cover it for the winter.

I did have a closer look and there is balsa wood and it is rotten where the jet pump mounts. Looks like replacing it is just part of the adventure

Thanks for all the help and advice so far in this adventure I do appreciate it

Ok friends its time to lift the motor, just wondering what the proper way to attach rigging to this motor ?

attaching a hydronic balance puller and lifting from a dead horizontal to vertical does not seam right ????

This has a telltale that comes off the exhaust plate between the cylinders

Should I add one to the water jackets ?

In my research I found the link below with detailed information

Does your jet unit have a rubber impeller water pump ?

As far as I can tell it does not. the water from the motor is supplied from the main drive impeller

I am concerned about air locking and running one bank of cylinders hot
