Hi
After years of boating and having owned many outboards, inboards and boats in all guises....I find myself in ownership of a wee 4hp evinrude engine
This is the first time I've had an evinrude. They are not so widespread here in the uk as the usual yamaha and Mercury engines this size.
She is probably around 87-92 vintage and has the navy coloured hood with a neutral and presumably a clutch system for forward gear.
She is a little beaten up, but runs superbly and is super smooth, being a 2 pot. So unusual to have 2 cylinders on a wee engine this size...over here at least.
My questions are as follows;
1. What is the orange twist knob for under the hood. Looks as if it is something to do with flywheel..timing ?
2. The decals are all missing, but there is a knob missing from the front to the right of choke and to the left of the stop button. What would have been here and what is it for ? From other similar engines it looks like a lean/rich knob ? Is this just for controlling speed at idle or for gear selection ? Never seen this before.
3.What oil ratio should I be running ? I've not even been through a litre of fuel yet, but mixed at 50/1 to be safe ?
4. It has an internal fuel tank, but also a connection for a remote tank on the front. This I have seen before, but usually there is a change over valve to switch between. Does this have this or not ?
Thanks.
