there are a lot of variables, are you cruising at 1/2 throttle or running wot ?
i would suggest that between these speeds you will burn about a gallon an hour, more or less depending on the engine rpm's

Hi C-Raven

Would certainly be cruising at less than 1/2 throttle, last time i was out i used approx 20 litres in 2 hours with an average speed of about 10 knots in calm waters.

Regards

Eddy

sounds like you are using a lot of fuel....
do you have full power? if you are runnning on less than 3 cylinders ,there will be lot of fuel wasted
on incomplete burn.

10 litres per hour (2.6 GPH to our American cousins) sound about right to me for a 70hp engine running around at less than 1/2 throttle. You'll find your best 'mileage' when at around 3/4 of full throttle RPMS, where your fully up on plane and you don't have your transom hanging in the water. Planing powerboats are woefully inefficient at lower speeds.
With boats, fuel consumption is pretty much a function of engine size. The more HP, the more it's going to drink. New technology (4-stroke, DFI, etc) helps a bit, but you're still pushing through water.

Not bad. Rule of thumb -- it takes about 1 gallon of gas to make 10 hp at wide open throttle. Theoriticaly your 70 hp will burn about 7 gallons per hour at wide open. If youre about 1/2 that at cruise, thats pretty good.
