Re: Evinrude 70hp - 1979 Model
10 litres per hour (2.6 GPH to our American cousins) sound about right to me for a 70hp engine running around at less than 1/2 throttle. You'll find your best 'mileage' when at around 3/4 of full throttle RPMS, where your fully up on plane and you don't have your transom hanging in the water. Planing powerboats are woefully inefficient at lower speeds.<br />With boats, fuel consumption is pretty much a function of engine size. The more HP, the more it's going to drink. New technology (4-stroke, DFI, etc) helps a bit, but you're still pushing through water.
