Tis the plan!!!

...but, for how long?
if it runs like it should and you keep the oil mixture a little rich it should run for many many years. I'm running a 66 evinrude 6hp that runs perfect and i just mix the gas at like 36:1. Can't wait to get out on the water once the stupid ice melts away lol

I do that too! Only closer to 40:1
Most say 'but you'll foul the plugs!' my theory is plugs are cheaper than a powerhead?
(same reason I don't down-shift a standard trans- brakes are cheaper than a clutch)

My plugs look like new and I run just a tad more than 40:1 like 32:1-36:1 and have never fouled out. I down shift but I rev the motor in the processes then let off the gas so when I let the clutch back out the rpm is much closer so it don't slip the clutch then once the clutch is out a let off the gas and get engine braking so I'm saving brakes and clutch lol (basically just give the motor a quick rev when your moving the shifter to a lower gear). I hope your not just pushing your clutch in and using the brakes because that will destroy the tranny input shaft and the pilot bushing.
