Re: evinrude charging system modification

ok just to update the charging situation i believe my amp gauge is screwed up i checked charging volts while on the lake running it is 15.8 volts but the gauge shows nothing but it will show discharge if i run the 12 volt inflator with the tube one other thing is that i do charge the battery on a trickle charger the night before so maybe i was just being a little to cautious and worried a little to much all seems fine if i see any other problems i will be sure to advice here after i check the voltage again thank you all

Re: evinrude charging system modification

well now the charging system has me really baffled since it is charging at 14.5 volts at 1500 rpm but the amperage is discharging even with a dvom . jump the contacts in the regulator and boom 20 amp positive . i never have seen a charging voltage but the amperage discharging at the same time i am trying to find a new regulator as i am typing this but just an update and didn't want to start a new thread

If that ever gives up the ghost, you can try an older harley mechanical (or solid state) regulator also. They're made to be out in the weather and my be a bit more durable than the truck model.

'62 Chevy Truck, huh? That's good info to know. I saved it for the next guy, if you don't mind.
