Well, I think that boat looks okay. Put a free ad on Craigslist or maybe $50.00 and it'll disappear.

Re: Evinrude find

Looks like a good deal.
List the boat/trailer on Craigslist and if you don't get any takers cut it up.

I purchased a similar deal awhile back. I kept the motor and trailer and cut the boat up and put it in my trash can over 4-6 weeks. I bought a $20 sawz all at harbor freight and went to work. The boat I cut up looked similar to yours. Most of it was easy to cut but there was a few thick areas that took a little more work.

I bought an old boat about a year ago that was complete junk but had a 15 hp evinrude tiller on it that I wanted. The guy was going to convert it over to cable steering but never done it. I gave the guy $200 for everything. I pulled the motor and for the heck of it I stripped the boat of its old steering controls and emblems. I ended up selling that junk on ebay for what I paid for the boat. I think I got at least $800 for the motor. Still have the trailer (somewhere).

Yea that sounds pretty good..motor is nice enough.. could use some paint i guess. (dont know what that **** is on the bottom)..the trailer could be in good cond. and i could sell that too. when u cut the boat howd u cut it? width wise? are these hulls hollow or filled with foam?

Re: Evinrude find

Well, this is why I say give it away. The reason why I say this, is because that spells W. O. R. K. which is in my dictonary.......a 4 letter word. Four letter words, such as this, cut into my drinking time a little too much.:D:D:D

Let's get real.......Wouldn't you rather be crackin a cold beer and playing with that new motor instead? Hey.....that's a no brainer.:D:D:D

Put it on CL for "FREEEEEEEE"

Re: Evinrude find

I agree, CraigsList for free. Someone will want the trailer at least. Those old Manufactured Fiberglass Boats (MFG) have quite a cult following, I think someone will take her off your hands.

Free Boat; 16 foot MFG boat and trailer............

Spice it up a little, add a picture or two. Whammo, it's gone in three days.

Re: Evinrude find

ha ha ha, I dont know about you guys, but up here in the northeast, EVERY BODY has an old boat int heir back yard they want gone...

they only time they go , is when they are free and they have some type of motor someone wants!!

you cannot tape 2 $100 bills on many of the boats to get rid of them!!

you get there, the lights dont work, the tires are dry rotted, the motor hasnt turned over in 5 years!!!

no one is buying them, especially fiberglass boats from 20 year ago and older!!!

legally youd have to get the trailer up to snuff for the road on site, before you take it out!!!...big turn off for the deal...those people need to sweete the pot and it isusually the motor...no motor!!

it might take 2 years to get rid of a FREE boat!!

junk yards dont take em either!!!!

if you got your own land, you could burn it at night, and then you have a small pile of soft fiberglas to get rid of, along with the misc hardware...

just how it is.

ps: I have a 1988 evinrude 70 hp and it had a plastic-paper model sticker as well, that the numbers washed off from degreaser!!

so i d guess your motor is in that range...the 1988 Johnson 48 special I have has a metal tag for the model numbers!!

double PS: the johnson has a welch plug right on top of the block that has the MODEL NUMBER stamped in it and it is real easy to spot, maybe the evinrude has that too!!

I just cut it width wise in strips that would fit in my large black garbage can. Most of the boat the sawz all goes through like butter.
Just leave it on the trailer and dice it up. You will have to remove the bottom of the hull from the trailer to cut up. Shouldn't take more then a couple hours to cut everything up.
If the trailer is beyond being repaired economically haul it to the scrap yard. The problem with old trailers is that they all need tires and wheel bearings which will cost at least $100. Possibly a light kit, wheel jack, and paint then it turns into a money pit.

Like previously mentioned burning it will reduce it to nothing. I saw a glass boat catch on fire while in the water and there was a gawd awful amount of black smoke. There wasn't much left.

Re: Evinrude find

use a chain saw, and a water hose to keep dust down. they take complete boats at our land fill, as long as the fuel tank is out of it.

Re: Evinrude find

Took me about 6 months of free on craigslist to get rid of a nice 16' checkmate ski boat hull. Was also throwing in a merc 1500(with melted piston) if they wanted to lift it out of the cellar...That was in NH...
