Re: Evinrude XP 150 (1985)
My (1985) XP 150 is installed on a 19ft. CC Key West fishing boat. The engine set without use for twelve years. Before I installed the motor on the new Key West, I replaced the water pump, thermostats, fuel lines, recovery lines, and vacuum line, also replace the no-wire VRO with a four-wire VRO and new VRO remote oil tank with new oil lines and new sparkplugs.

I have not run it at WOT much because I use it for crabbing in the Bush River, I spend about three to five hours of idling while pulling traps.

One of the problems with the engine now is the tach stop working and I will get a bog or miss sometime before it really warms up.

Then it will run strong up to about 4800 / 4900 rpms, pulling a 14 ¼ X 21 SST prop @ 50 mph OMC speed meter, or 48.9 GPS.
This motor would push my old 17.8 Manatee run-about 60 mph @ 5800 rpm same prop OMC speed meter.

This afternoon while cleaning up the ignition terminals, installing dialectric grease, and setting the final cam follower / snyc linkage. I noticed a very small weepy fuel leak in my fuel line manifold. I will check it the manifold tomorrow to see if it is cracked, or one of the clamps are causing the leak. (could possibley) cause of the early running bog.
