Re: Exhaust Manifolds

I'd maybe try calling the customer service phone # at ebasicpower.com and seeing if they have any suggestions or could get some for you.

Re: Exhaust Manifolds

anything is possible with the help of an A-dapter kit . Just sometimes the A-dapter kit costs more than a new boat! You might be able to use those manifolds or any marine manifold-riser for the engine model that you have and just adapt the plumbing to your exhaust

Re: Exhaust Manifolds

Not surprised. "Customer service" and ebasicpower do not belong in the same sentence.

Sorry I cannot be more help with your specific problem, just wanted to vent a little. ;)

Re: Exhaust Manifolds

Not that you want to refit your whole boat, but you could maybe switch to thru hull exhaust.

Re: Exhaust Manifolds

Well the heck of it is, risers and gaskets are in good supply. Ain't no manifolds to go with them. I need to sit down with a V8 with plenty of room to work and figure out a system that will work. Then I would have the adapting part workable and have a list of parts needed.
Son of a witch, I just checked and look at these prices. How bad do you want a manifold.
31 33 34 jpn

YSC10191100C MANIFOLD,EXH V-8 1781.96 Discontinued N N N Y
YSC10191200C ELBOW,EXH MIXING 364.78 Discontinued Y N N N
6T9146430000 GASKET 3 37.92 Y N N N

So somehow they have manifolds in JPN

Those numbers didn't line up properly over the item.
The letters N or Y after the part is the warehouse and means no or yes if in stock

31 is Calif
32 is Cudahy
33 Kenasaw
JPN is direct Japan

Re: Exhaust Manifolds

You are setting there with a dead engine, dead manifolds and risers that will cost a fortune, what shape is the drive in. If it breaks, what is going to be the cost of repair there. IS this boat worth all this?
When you have a boat with an engine and outdrive setup that doesn't have any support for parts or service in your area, you are taking a BIG gamble.
Have you thought of taking all the Yammy stuff out, selling it, and putting a Mercruiser or Volvo setup in? Buying a junked donor boat with a good engine and drive would be one idea.

Re: Exhaust Manifolds

What I can't figure is how did the manifolds get to Japan. They were cast here in the states by PCM and as far as I know, no american engine was used overseas.
You can plumb the engine and use Mercruiser center riser manifolds and change the thermostat housing.

Re: Exhaust Manifolds

Too bad you don't have a 7.4, they've got plenty of manifolds for those. None anywhere for the 4.3

Sounds like these Yamaha guys may need a "How To" guide to setup some Merc manifolds on a 5.7 and maybe a 4.3. What say Capt Ken?

The Yamaha guys don't have a glut of 7.5 (aka Ford 460) exhaust manifolds do they?

Re: Exhaust Manifolds

Well the thing about it is I want to rebuild the motor replace the manifold and sell the damn thing. I paid 4800 for the boat and would like to fix it and recoup something, move on, lesson learned with yamaha. I kinda dont really know what to do now.

Re: Exhaust Manifolds

OK, you can plumb Mercruiser manifolds to work. Just gotta change the water routing. Yamaha includes the manifold in the loop controled by the thermostat. Mercruiser does not. So Yamaha sends the water out of the engine, into the bottom of the manifold, out the bottom of the riser and back into the thermostat housing. After the thermostat opens, water is then diverted out the top hose on the riser. You can change the thermostat housing to the mercruiser style and cut the manifolds out of the regulated loop.
Or you can use a block off plate between the riser and manifold. Install a 90 degree elbow in the fitting coming out the top of the manifold ahead of the riser. Then plumb it like the yamaha.
