Re: Extra key on the boat?

keep in the glove box of the boat, key is always in the ignition. If someone wants to steal one of the boats, oh well. I have insurance for that. We live out in the country and our boats either are on the trailers or have us in them, but... the extra key is nice just in case one of the kids was playing ship captain or something to that effect.

I keep a key on the same ring as the key to my coupler lock. If I can hook up the trailer I can start the boat!

although I don't need a key to start mine, I keep my boat trailer coupler key along with my other extras in a hideakey box on my trucks frame rail

Re: Extra key on the boat?

Why would you remove them unless the boat is slipped or docked?

I keep my boat in a marina slip and keep the keys right in the switches.

Why? Because if it needed to be moved (due to fire or other emergency) I want to make it easy for the staff to get it outta there pronto. I live almost an hour away and wouldn't be able to get there in time. Also, my dock has 2 liveaboards who SERIOUSLY take care of security........
