Extra plugs

I've read a lot of posts about forgetting plugs. Solid brass plugs are so inexpensive, it simply doesn't make sense to me to not have a bunch of them on hand. They cost about six deer at WallyWorld for a two-pack. My motor cover is cushioned and has two cup holders in the front top side. I keep a plug in the port side cup holder. That's the one I use. I keep another in the helm glove box. I keep two more in the cuddy cabin, one in eack side storage area. I also keep one in the glove box of my truck. I don't consider this overkill for several reasons. Just about anywhere I go on my boat, I'm going to see a brass plug... constant reminder;). If I ever run into someone who can't find their plug, I've gott'em covered:D. Brass being a soft metal, eventually, they become worn enough to no longer form a waterproof seal. Keeping some teflon tape in your toolbox is a quick fix for this, but it's inevitable, eventually, you'll need to replace it. My launch will not be delayed because I don't have or can't find my plug. Just some food for thought... Safe and happy boating to all!!!

Re: Extra plugs

I always carry an extra plug in my emergency box along with a tube of 5 minute waterproof epoxy...... the extra plug is just a part of my tool box.

Re: Extra plugs

I never take mine out so it is really hard to forget to put it back in.

I have an aluminum boat and keep it in my garage so I don't have to deal with weather adn when I am out in the rain I drain it and put the plug right back in.
