I've read a lot of posts about forgetting plugs. Solid brass plugs are so inexpensive, it simply doesn't make sense to me to not have a bunch of them on hand. They cost about six deer at WallyWorld for a two-pack. My motor cover is cushioned and has two cup holders in the front top side. I keep a plug in the port side cup holder. That's the one I use. I keep another in the helm glove box. I keep two more in the cuddy cabin, one in eack side storage area. I also keep one in the glove box of my truck. I don't consider this overkill for several reasons. Just about anywhere I go on my boat, I'm going to see a brass plug... constant reminder
. If I ever run into someone who can't find their plug, I've gott'em covered
. Brass being a soft metal, eventually, they become worn enough to no longer form a waterproof seal. Keeping some teflon tape in your toolbox is a quick fix for this, but it's inevitable, eventually, you'll need to replace it. My launch will not be delayed because I don't have or can't find my plug. Just some food for thought... Safe and happy boating to all!!!
