ATTENTION!!
I just happened on a cosemetically beautiful Avenger 17' bubble deck. I found it on eBay. Here's the link:

Anyway, I tried to win this bid but ran out of time. The guy who had it said he would sell the boat for $1000, and it had the original custom trailer that was REALLY solid. I talked him into selling it to me, but it was "sight unseen." He assured me that it was solid, so I had a cashier's check made out and drove from the Seattle area all the way to Sacramento in 12 hours.
The place that had this boat was a boat salvage yard. What he told me is that if they couldn't sell this boat they were going to part it out and cut up the hull and throw it away (!).
Trying to shorten this... When I got there, yes the boat was in beautiful cosmetic condition, and the trailer was great. The bottom of the boat was immaculate. It looked like the only things it had touched were the water and the trailer. But... The floor was bulging up, the boat appeared to have been built without a bilge area (water getting in the boat would flow along the floor to the drain hole, but no step-down into a bilge). This meant I had no access to check the condition of the stringers. The transom was solid (ice pick check), but there was evidence water had been getting into the false bottom. For $1000 I just couldn't buy this boat, because I don't have another $1000 to replace the stringers and floor should it need it.
If someone out there is familiar with these boats, lives in the central/northern part of CA, and has an extra $2000 to potentially burn, please go and rescue this beautiful boat from the saws-all!
