I love Fragile, but it is tough for me not to include Close to the Edge-1972

The song, And You and I is a masterpiece along with Close to the Edge itself

That's a tough one. Based on creativity it's up between the Yes album and Fragile. But Fragile is available as a 5.1 channel, DTS encoded DVD audio. I have it, it sounds new again! And the instruments and vocals are so clear. So with that in mind Fragile takes it as the best Yes album.

IMHO Close to the Edge is the best progressive rock album of all time.

Uhhh, I'd save that for the Lamb Lies Down, but if your handle means Bass, as in Guitar, then I understand ;)

Oh, I was lucky enough to see TLLDOB done live by Genesis back in the day, too. Lots of costumes in that show. There were 3 panels behind the band, lots of scene changes. I remember Peter Gabriel always in a weird costum, one had his balls swelled up the size of water melons. Phil Collins never left the drum kit in those days, and to this day I am still a huge Steve Hackett fan.

“We've gotta get in to get out.”

Maybe we should do a fav Genesis album thread, too. :)

Yes, you were lucky. I was 14 during that tour and have always wished I saw it . . . Last year I went to a tribute band's version. They're called The Musical Box and they absolutely nailed it, costumes and all. They're actually licensed by Genesis to perform it.

QC : Lamb Lies Down is certainly a great album. When it comes to Bass Man, it stands for both as I fish and play bass though almost never at the same time. d:)

This isn't the norm but I liked 90210 and Big Generator. Later works but Trevor Rabin justs shines. If you are a fan of Jon Anderson, he did an album with Vangellis, interesting combination. Back in the 80's

Re: Favorite Yes album?

Sorry for the late post, but I just got back from a week at Riviera Maya (schweeet). 8)

Being an avid guitar & bass player, I have a high appreciation of technical type music & Yes is one of my all-time faves. From that point of view, I think Howe & Squire were at their creative peaks during The Yes Album & Fragile.

The guitar work Rabin did on 90125 & Big Generator is incredible, though the bass parts are much "easier" to copy on those - guess Squire had moved away from fretboard gymnastics at that point & had just resorted to adding more basic bottom-end.

I would have to say those are my 4 favorite albums.
