I have a Mercury Remanufacturing Plus Series 5.7. Mine also has a new starter and alternator with serpentine belt. Actually it's a 5.8L, 357 cubic inches, it's bored .040"over.
If you look on the block down by the starter you will see a tag (should be there) with the info. If you're real curious you can call Mercruiser with the info on the tag and they can tell you what boat it came out of and likely who installed it in your boat as it's likely been installed at a certified Merc dealer.
The dealer I bought the boat from new nothing of the engine, they didn't install it. Very long story very short, I took the info off the block and called Merc. They told me what boat the engine originated from, they were pretty close in getting what kind of boat (my boat) the engine is currently in and who installed it. I called that dealer out of curiosity and they verified it.
Had the dealer that sold the boat known anything about this engine they could have gotten at least another 4-6k for the boat. Good thing for me they didn't know anything. :D

Freaking awesome engine though!!! Makes wonderful power with 2 or 7 adults in the boat. I was lucky enough to get the boat slightly after the engine break in period.

And if you haven't figured it out already, DO NOT PUMP THE THROTTLE TO START COLD OR HOT. Just crank till it starts. Not knowing that, the first couple starts I flooded that thing so bad it wasn't funny.

Maybe worth remembering that with these reman or after market engines. Their quoted power output depends on the carb.
I have a friend that replaced his 5.7 2 barrel carb with one quoting something like 280hp on the write up. Engine came undressed and bare. Obviously he used his old ancillaries and carb. There was no noticeable difference over the old 250hp 5.7 and much disappointment.
All as a result of him using his 2 barrel carb and manifold. I’d imagine the wonder hp figures were maybe seen with at least a 4 barrel or FI and perhaps even measured at the the flywheel too.

The Mercury Remanufacturing Plus Series engines come with a new dual plane intake manifold and 750cfm 4 barrel.
Coming from Mercruiser, , not really aftermarket like Engines R Us or whatever aftermarket engine rebuilder.
