Re: Finished topside.
Fisherman.., Marks.., alheim,

I appreciate very much your comments.

Studly...,

Yea that red tide smell, last year out in the channel was loaded with dead stuff washing around. I hear we should do better this year. Thanks for the feedback.

Purduebarry,

Not retired yet, as a result, 6 Years! Started April 2000.

Tail_gunner,

I had already purchased the easypoxy (1 gal) and was going to do the whole boat with it, including outside hull. After reading (mostly on this forum), it seemed that the Interlux Perfection (two part) was a better choice for the hull (much longer discussion). So I guess now we will see how each holds up. If I had to do it again, I think I would use the perfection, although it requires a little more thought, mixing paint and thinning correctly. I think they both spread and flow pretty well. Easy poxy was certainly easier. I do think that the perfection is a much harder finish.

On drying time, I have heard many opinions, from three days to 2 weeks. I was satisfied with the hardness and feel after 1 week, so I flipped it over back on the trailer. This also fit in very well with a weekend project. I kept being reminded not to push it and mess up something I had spent so much time on. The spec sheet on perfection also said if you needed to fix sags and drips you needed to do it within 48 hours. This says to me that it is set well and hard after that time.

Woody20,

I am not sure where I am going to put the rod holders yet. I am thinking I want to see how everything "feels" before I mount it all. Things like, I would like a small swim deck on the back. We do go out to the island (Three Rooker and Anclote off of Klosterman Bayou, St. Joseph sound). Plus, my wife likes to just go slow and explore the spoil islands here, so I need to consider that as well.

Thanks again to all of you. This certainly is getting near the end and I am sure without some of the reading I have done here, things would be different (worse).

Peace.

Ed.
