Don, I'm looking at the 50A circuit. Does the little red button on it "test" it. When I hit that a little yellow arm drops down that says "reset" on it. Am I supposed to push that back up in order to reset it? I tried the ignition both ways and nothing worked, I just wanted to know if that was how that circuit worked.

Don, I'm just throwing things around in my head. Wouldn't the dash guages light up when I turn the switch? Would the fuse on the starter keep that from happening? I have dead guages. According to the wiring diagram they all come back to the 50A circuit. Something is not letting the power get to the guages. Just wasn't sure if it got stopped by the starter or not. Again just throwing things around out loud.

The wiring diagram has a 15A fuse that sits at the top of the fuse box (3). I went and looked and didn't see that fuse anywhere. Just shooting in the dark now.

Okay wife just got back a few min ago with the voltmeter. I took the black and put it on the grounding block and the red on the battery. It registered 12.75v. Then I put the black on the grounding block again and the red on the starter solenoid post where the hot wire is bolted down. I got nothing. That can't be though right? I think I have to try again in the morning. That red(hot) wire is directly connected so it should register something.

Don, what is that black wire connected to the other side of the fuse? Also, how do I test that fuse with a voltmeter? forgive my ignorance.

Look around the battery (and behind it), and find the ground wire you missed.

I will check first thing in the morning. U think that's it? Is the wire that is on the other side of that fuse a grounding wire? If there is an extra wire missing I'm not sure there is enough room on that post.

Lets start with the simple stuff first. Is there a heave gauge(The size of your pinky) Red and Black cable attached to the battery

I do not mean to high-jack your thread I am having the same problem but I have a 92 3.0L 1950 classic. Put the battery on after getting it out of storage lights on dash lit up but motor would not turn over just clicked. So...I put a battery charger on it and flipped it to start and everything went dark. I have checked the 50A circuit beaker and it is pushed in. I cannot find the small white box you referenced above. I will be following this closely, thanks!

Yeah there is. I have 2 heavy guage red cables and two heavy yellow gauge cables plus a heavy black cable. I also have a few lighter gauge cables as well. I'm off to look for the missing grounding wire.

Okay I'm a complete moron. I hooked the starter wire up to the neg terminal on the battery. Before you crucify me take a look at the pic. It's covered in a black sheath.

Now I'm getting voltage to the starter but I am still not getting any dash lights and the ignition is not working. The 50A circuit is reset.

I also put the voltmeter red on the power cable on the starter and the black one on the other side of the fuse and didn't get anything. I think I did that wrong.

Any other ideas.

The 50A circuit is reset.

I have power on the starter solenoid side.

I have power going through that fuse on the starter solenoid.

Now I'm lost again.

Do you have power TO the 50A circuit breaker? If not, trace the wire from the breakeer back to the starter and find out where the power loss is coming from.
Did you put the fuse back together and back on the starter? Did you check to make sure you have power at the small terminal on the fuse?

Have you checked any fuses under your dash as well. If you wired it wrong you will pop those fuses. This is something simple you just have to find it....

I put the fuse back together and tested both sides of fuse. Each side of the fuse has power. Going to check the 50A circuit.

On that 50A circuit there are 2 wires. I am guessing one is from the starter and the other goes to the key switch. is that correct?

Okay getting power to the 50A circuit on one wire not on the other that is the same color as the key switch.

Checked for power on the key switch lead to the 50A circuit while trying to crank the boat and got nothing.

Reset the circuit breaker.

I did. the little yellow arm pops out when I hit the red button. I reset the arm and still have nothing.

When you hit the red button, you trip the breaker. Push the yellow arm back up inline with the red button and you will have power.

I did that and don't have any power. Could the breaker be bad?
