I just stumbled on this thread. I recently re-located to Florida (again)..... is this open to anyone? What kinds of bats are OK to bring there?
I have a 20' Glastron. Are dogs OK in campground? My wife & I would love to come play!
I saw where all the waterfront sites are "blocked" how can i reserve one?
I assume tents are OK, or does it have to be an RV?

Samo... Late for who's season? February is kinda cold down here for us in Central Florida where the temps can get down to freezing overnight. April is kinda the ideal month where it's warm days with cool nights and excellent weather for camping out. Plus personally, I really can't deal with the cold. I spent too many years working on mountaintops and swore I'd never step outside in below zero temps ever again.

I will be skiing as long as someone will drive my boat. Mrs Ken will spot. Anyone else is welcome to ski off my boat as well. I will have a couple of towables as well.

I'm already driving down in Jan and again in Feb! And I'm trying to convince the wife to drive down in Dec but she's starting to hate the drive down

By April I can be boating here again!

Rick, thanks for the offer. I thank saturday moring is a good idea. I did our little sea trial in Charleston but it's been in kentucky lake mostly, so this will a good saltwater run. We are coming down in april too , to look around for a warm place to stay for a couple of months next year. See ya later.

Flying sucks... I've already flown twice this year and that was twice too much... It's driving for me Besides, that way I can buy a boat in Fla and tow it home... Boats are cheap down there

Wacha lookin for?? Our local craigslist is one of the busiest in the country for boats. Give me a heads up a few weeks before you get here and we can try and get something lined up. Pretty easy to do a trailer overhaul so you can make it back. My local trailer supply house sells 3500# hub kits for about $44. New hub, bearings, seal, lug nuts and dust cap. We just have to make sure the spindle is good.


My shop is an hour down the road form the meet and we have everything you could need to do the work. Just a thought.....


Plus, my wife speaks your language...she's from Brampton outside of Toronto.

April is the month for the fewest bugs, mosquitoes , deer flies, etc. the reason if was moved to April. the thermacell bug things work really well, http://www.mosquitorepellent.com/ also the OFF fan.

She speaks Canadian! How'd you end up with such a great wife?

I brought a pontoon boat home last time and made about $2k on it. Paid $850 and sold it for $3k. Had to fix up the engine though. I like them cause they're light to tow... Which is a good thing to consider as I only drive a Grand Cherokee 6 cyl. But again, April is late in the season... I'm hoping to get something in Jan or Feb... and you're right, the craigslist listings in Fla are crazy. They get 100+ boat postings a day... I check them regularly before I go down...
