I bought a new Lowrance X18c GPS/Fishfinder for my center console boat and have been looking at installation alternatives.

There is a nice flat space on the right side of the console opposite side of all guages where I believe it will work well and keep things from looking cluttered. The 45 degree angle will be nice for viewing and the clean flush profile will keep it out of the way of other things I may decide to add down the road. However, my one concern is that this will be a relatively permanent installation and therefore may be vulnerable to theft if the boat is slipped in a marina overnight. The other is that this will require cutting a hole about 8X10 inches which may result in additional modification if I should ever decide to replace the current fishfinder with another.

I'm hoping to get some helpful input which may influence my decision to do a flush mount or the conventional mount on top of the console.

Keivn
<><
