oh its a 1990 135 HP "V" 6 I am trying to figure what of the 3 charts to use doing a dva test they have 2 16 amp systems and 1 40 amp system I know its not the 40 amp because of the style of the stator but the 16 amp has 2 different fly wheels to choose from Thanks Bob

Be easier to post picture of your flywheel to determine what you have...

will do thanks and like i said the mercury manual says its very dangerous to mix match these one way they wount fit 40 amp stator & 16 amp flywheel but the other way 16 amp stator with a 40 amp fly wheel extream voltage will occur of over 500 volts hea I wonder if i can make my oun electricty in the back yard this way with 10 to 15 of these engines running this way LOL Thanks Bob

Easy way to tell is look at your rectifier, if its the small square 3 terminal aboove the switcboxes its a 16 amp, if it has large single one mounted on exhaust chest or has dual rectifier on exhaust cover it a 40 amp. The did make a few flex plate 40 amp flywheels which are great for racing....

Re: fly wheels flex plate or cast iron type

oh did they make the 16 amp come in a incapsulated and non incapsulated style, the mercury manual says the 40 amp only came in a non capsulated style and they also state the 16 amp came in a smoth capsulated style.

And if a previous owner replaced the stator with a CDI aftermarket it will also be non encapsulated whether it be a 16 or 40 amp.

That's 40 amp, single coil stator, water cooled regulator.
