I posted about a week ago that I wasn't getting fuel to carb. It's a (96)4.3LX with a weber 4BBL. Well we found that the choke pull off was not even connected and that the choke flap itself was locked in the open position. I've ordered the parts so they're on the way. The guy that found the problem was able to get the boat started by putting hand over carb (manually choking) and having me turn over. This was after he verified it was actually sucking from tank(mouthfull of gas)and reconnecting hose to fuel water seperator. I've since put penetrating oil on the choke assembly and have freed the flap to move open and closed (manually of course). I can't seem to get it started on my own at this point. The pump in the system is electric, should I need to prime this somehow? I've heard that the weber 4bbl takes ALOT of gas to get going? At this point it just doesn't seem that it's pulling gas up to the carb, I can dump in to carb and get it going but once that's gone it just quits. Today I'm gonna try putting the tank hose in to a 5 gallon tank and drawing from there, I'm really thinking the draw from the tank is the issue here. I have replaced the fuel water seperator but that's it. Getting really frustrated here, but I'm sure most do when they want to be on the water. Anything I'm missing?

Jeff

You mentioned that your fuel pump is electric. Is it working? You can check it by removing the fuel line from the carb. Turn the switch on and see if the pump will pump fuel into a plastic container. While you have the fuel line off and if the pump works. Check the stone filter. (I think this carb has one) You should be able to blow through the filter. If you can't blow through it then replace it.

don't forget to add fuel to the water seperator filter to prime it.

Yes, the fuel pump is working but on this model the oil pressure needs to be at 40psi I believe before the pump will kick on (once it gets there I can hear the punp come on. This is part of the problem, to get the oil pressure that high almost requires it to be started. I will check the stone filter at the carb today before attempting to use an external tank. I did prime the water seperator.

Thnaks for the feedback, I'll let you know what happens.

Jeff

You say the fuel pump is working but is it pumping? Can you run a hot wire from your battery to the pump while the fuel line is off to test it. Be careful though. Sparks and gas don't mix. I'm not sure that Carb has a filter in it or not. Checking it is a suggestion if it does.

This is new to me too. Most all electric fuel pumps turn on when the ignition switch is turned on.

Good luck

OK for all that provided suggestion, thanks! The problem was the anti-syphon valve between the fuel tank and water seperator. Replaced and working fine.

Lesson learned ALWAYS START WITH THE EASIEST FIX FIRST!!!

This was a real learning experience though....Thanks again
