Sure different than when I came home from Nam. I wouldn't wish that on any person in uniform.

yeah. After nearly 25 years in the USAF I wouldn't want it either............BUT the worst part of it is all those people that made it "different" back then are now in charge of the govt.............I am MORE afraid.....

I was a child during the 60s and lived in fear of being drafted into the Vietnam war . I have great respect for those that served in the Vietnam war and all wars for that matter. I read where the Pentagon is hiring 1000s more covert agents to wage a low key ops to prevent a full scale war from happening again. I hope the Afghanistan war is the last of its kind

Interesting read how The Nuge dodged draft . Snopes says undetermied , Lance sued anybody that tried to expose ,so money ,power can corrupt.http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...wIGQDw&usg=AFQjCNGMX4dVGpWNFImYhNSKxVocl1sm5A

My Dad finished out USAF sent to Osan Korea, then Rome NY, during Nam he was White House Communication Officer to Johnson and Nixon . Before Korea I had letter from Pres to West Point but didn't go cousin did . Had enough of Millitary Life by 8th grade but when draft cards came I was 1H,1A then name and SS#and thought i was going then war ended and Pop wanted to see how i reacted then later told me he would not let me go something about being sole survieng son. And yes there is a trap range at Camp David I shot my BB gun there as a kid after a ride on Army one But I rember fence at back of trap stations . Ithink you can google earth it now people didn't belive I took a boat into pentagon either .

In 1971 my draft number was 67. They called up to number 125 that year. There was no way I was going to let them draft me into the Army for 2 years. :hippie: :peace:

I showed them. I signed up with the Marine Corps for 3 years instead. :usa2:

My dad was very similar to yours Kid, rather then get drafted he signed where he wanted and served for 8 years in the Air Force did 3 tours in Vietnam working on airplane avionics, he is my Mentor and my Hero, I will not allow those that serve be treated the way Vietnam Veterans were when they came home. You serve your country your country should welcome you home.

as I said before Thank you for your service.

haha Thanks for your service! In 1971, I was 11 years old. Too young or too old for any war. They ended the draft. Had Asthma anyway. Which in those days they would put you in the hospital during episodes. So it was documented. My dad though was a Staff Sargent in the AF. 4 years. He trained Pilots in Simulators and was stationed in Germany
