Re: force 50 can i give it more power
In some applications a hydrofoil can rob as much as 5 MPH. In others it does no harm. Since it is a bolt on, remove it and see what happens to speed and handling---you can always bolt it right back--five minutes.
If the engine is correctly propped for your hull, a prop change will only hurt you. If incorrectly propped, it will help. ---But there is not much choice for those small engines. Still, if you can get a couple of cheap props (on ebay or such) to experiment with--then what the hey!
If you bolt on a larger carburetor, you will get-----50 HP! See! the 50 is at the top of the displacement and HP for that series engine. There is not much bolt on hot-rodding you can do.
If you need to disassemble the engine to replace a piston, then it is worth modifying the ports. That will yeild some extra HP and probably a few MPH more. But if the engine is running well, it really is not worth the trouble to disassemble and do the port work. --Don't fix somthin' that 'aint broke!
