Might want to read up on how the enrichment system works on the Rochester 2bbl. If you're getting pinging at WOT then if it is a carb related problem, adjusting the idle system won't have much if any effect on that problem.
We had a Rochester 2GV on our '72 Chev Impala 350 and I always thought that engine in that size car (4200 lbs) needed a 4bbl, in fact our next GM full size was a '75 Olds Delta 88 also with a 350 but with a Rochester Quadrajet 4bbl which performed noticably better.
Something is just odd about a Rochester (division of GM) on a Ford engine!
Fords should have Autolites/Motorcraft, or even a Holley (if in vehicles) or Holleys Marine carbs if in a boat lol. However I have read that Chry Co used Q-Jets on certain Mopars and so did Ford, on certain V8 applicaitons. Guess they couldn't get enough Carters or Motorcrafts/Autolites in those years.
