I've been in the automotive field all my life and understand all to well how warranties work. The point I was trying to make was without pulling the heads and/or oil pan one won't know what happened. The engine is still under warranty, if OP goes pulling heads off, engine builder can rightly refuse warranty. Best thing is to just package it all up and send it back.
Chris.....
I'm still leaning towards a blown rod.
Personally I wouldn't be trying to figure out why or what is causing the problem, straight back for warranty coverage. But then again, I would have rebuilt my own motor as usual.
