The engine is still under warranty, if OP goes pulling heads off, engine builder can rightly refuse warranty. Best thing is to just package it all up and send it back.

Chris.....
I've been in the automotive field all my life and understand all to well how warranties work. The point I was trying to make was without pulling the heads and/or oil pan one won't know what happened.
I'm still leaning towards a blown rod.
Personally I wouldn't be trying to figure out why or what is causing the problem, straight back for warranty coverage. But then again, I would have rebuilt my own motor as usual.

Update....engine builder seems a bit baffled as to how it just stopped with no prelude to the problem. He looked at all my pictures and in the spark plug and exhaist Manny holes...checked plugs...he says it all looks normal...it's coming apart Tuesday with me there

It a small piece of something that was jammed up until we flipped engine over and then it spun freely as it should...and that fell out. Not sure we're it came from or why but they figure it looks like the nit that holds the aircleaner stud...they are eating the labour on piston and head and intake re and re...I am paying about 200 for new gaskets and we carry on

When I pull the carb off for a rebuild always tape a piece of cardboard over the gasket on the intake!
