Hello all, newbie here just recently purchased a boat last march 95 200 Horizons 5.0EFI/ford, cobra/sx, has about 850 hours on it in good shape overall I may get flamed for this but I like my ford/volvo combo! As a ford guy I have good knowledge of the engine, as my buddy put it "leave it to you to find the only boat with a Ford engine in it" :joyous:

And from what Ive read the Volvo/SX version of the OMC cobra is a good unit. That being said purty sure I gotta replace my gimbal bearing this spring, but that's not what this post is about.

The problem I knew my blower fan died late in the season on was on my winter repair list so I go to see what size it is 3 or 4 inch I noticed I have two tubes that don't go anywhere! one tube goes to the bilge the to mounted fan then tube coming off it just lays back down in the engine compartment! Basically blowing in a circle. The other tube is ran right along side of the first minus the blower both of these are on the port side of the engine.

What i desperately need is picture of the same type of boat with the same plastic vents on back under the sundeck how the heck are the hoses attached to the vent? and I'm also guessing there should be two more (intake) hoses ran also. Best I can tell they route under the back side and I see holes but it very hard to access or see for that matter

I have searched and searched and found plenty of pics that are not my boat many with the easy to see, and access side vents.

Four Winns owners please help!!

No four wins owner here but to discuss your blowers. The blowers suck air out of the engine compartment from the bilge area, next to the bottom and about the level of the starter. Gas fumes are heaver then air and this is the reason the hoses lengths are what they are.

Most all of the vent grills have screws in the corners, the screws are either on the outside or inside. Once the grill comes off the inner piece can be removed and then gain access to the hoses. The boxes and called collection boxes

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,... Just as it should be,.... fresh air in, gas fumes out,....

You probably have other vents further forward on the hull, which blow down through the gunnels/ decks/ bilge...

replace yer blower, 'n enjoy yer new boat,...

What you are referring to is the older style and I wish they where that easy. I will try to up load a photo.

This isn't my boat but is the same, see the vents under the sun deck that's what I'm up against. not sure how good they would work being covered like that anyway.

They should be fine, I have similar ones on my Rinker and they do fine.
This isn't my boat but it's similar and the vents are in the same place

Bondo has it right. The are is pushed into the bilge and the vent is just that, a vent. Here is a quick pic I could find. The crown on the side is actually an intake for the blower. There is one on the other side too. I have a vent kind of like yours on the back just a couple inches lower. There are not hoses to the vent.

Re: Four Winns blower help!

Sounds to me like the output hose from the blowerfell off the output vent, the blower should suck air out of the bilge and vent it outside.

This is correct.

The second hose is intended to be an intake.

The vents should extend inside with a lip to allow the hoses to be attached with a hose clamp or wire tie.
Vent grill, 3" stainless steel, domed

These describe the requirements.

Re: Four Winns blower help!

I noted there where 4 holes 2 on each side but to provisions to attach anything that's what kinda stumped me.

I'm honestly not sure if there is a vent on the side of the boat for intake but i don't think there is

That is all there is to it. There are NO intake vents on the sides to let fresh air into the bilge. Just hook up one end of the hose to the vents under the swimpad, and leave the other one laying in the bilge to suck up the fumes. You are done.

Like this +1

The scoops on the side only work when under way. The blowers are only for when at the dock or on the trailer before starting the boat after sitting or fueling. They pull the potential fumes from the bilge and force them to the outside before you start the engine. The blowers do nothing while under way. There are some generic clips that attach the hoses to the vent grills I can't seem to find a link to any however. Plastic wire ties might work.

Re: Four Winns blower help!

If it helps any, your '95 sounds like its setup pretty much the same as my '05 as I noticed that this past year while sumerizing it. I'd take pics but mine's under wraps until April/May.
