Re: Free boat!
not an unusual situation around here--crappy old project boat sinks and owner gives up (really, he gave up a long time ago but this seals it). Boat had no resale value before it sank, and neither does the motor if it wasn't working, because the market is flooded with them, if you'll pardon the expression.
Meanwhile that hull has no value as a workboat, which is where the old CC's end up. No parts have any value since everything is underwater except the windshield--can't be worth it.
If he pumps it out today and the new owner picks it up tomorrow, the engine is history. New owner has to arrange to grab that motor off immediately and either drop it in a tank or get to work that day. Who wants to start a project with an emergency?
He probably got that boat for his teenagers, who now have grown and gotten busy or moved, and it's been sitting around for a while. Of course, as a boat owner I hate to see it happen to anyone, but this one is far from tragic, just typical.
