This morning my front load washing machine leaked all over. Looking at it, the door gasket has about a 1 inch tear in the very outer edge that's mysteriously similar in size and shape to a cat bite. By coincidence my cat likes to bite these sorts of things. Since the repair manual calls it a bellows I thought I'd run it by you guys to see if anybody has a repair idea. The new part is about $150. It's a rigid part of the bellows that doesn't move, it's just the seal right against the door. Somebody recommended shoe goop as it's good to 150 degrees. Any other ideas or is this idea doomed?

locally. 3 kids and a big pile of laundry building up. I think I've crossed it to another part# which it looks like I can get for closer to half that but it will take a couple days.

I'm leaning to shoe goop at least in the short term. It's just a lip on the gasket that the cat bit off. The piece is still there just folded back. A little duct tape and some goop?

Try a local used appliance store. They usually have lots of appliance parts on machines they have stolen other parts off of.

She's pretty skinny but it's a consideration. I found one cheaper online but I'll check the stores tomorrow. In the meantime I bought some ATV automotive glue and some goop. One should provide a temporary cure.
