Frozen upper drive...how bad will my wallet hate me?

I finally have the motor running on my project now it is on to tackle the frozen upper. I tore into it and found the input bearing completely seized, a small rust spot on the input gear where it has been mated with the vertical shaft drive gear, and the clutch cone seems like it is working but won't shift into reverse.

So am I looking at a big money job for the professionals or a quick fix in my garage? I know it depends on my skill level and available tools, I am just looking for some friendly advice from those who know a little more about these things.

I don't have a clue what kind of wrong information you will get with a Clymers manual. But unless you have a lot of special Volvo tools, you aren't going to be able to take the upper apart. Let alone get it back together with all new bearings. Obviously you had a lot of water in the drive, what about the water in the lower?

As far as I can tell there hasn't been any water in the drive. The water that caused the majority of the corrosion was just what got in through the bellows around the gimbal bearing. The only oddball corrosion is the spot where the two gears were touching for who knows how long (I assume that could just be humidity since that isn't a gear that is always covered in gear lube when it is sitting)
