I finally have the motor running on my project now it is on to tackle the frozen upper. I tore into it and found the input bearing completely seized, a small rust spot on the input gear where it has been mated with the vertical shaft drive gear, and the clutch cone seems like it is working but won't shift into reverse.
So am I looking at a big money job for the professionals or a quick fix in my garage? I know it depends on my skill level and available tools, I am just looking for some friendly advice from those who know a little more about these things.
