Hello,
I am working to restore a mistreated 1989 Evinrude 9.9 HP outboard. The heavy steel washer that goes onto the output shaft before the prop, is rust frozen in place. I have soaked it with penetrating oil for several days and given it several sharp blows with a brass drift, to no avail. I checked my boat dealership for a special tool for removal, and was told that there is none. I am reluctant to use heat, as there is a seal directly behind it. Any suggestions on how to free it up?
