Turned my ignition on, no action from the fuel gauge. Earlier, before Christmas, I removed the tank, removed the gauge and had the tank steam cleaned and preasure tested. Put it all back together the same way it came apart (I think) and no gauge. I put about 5 gallons in a 40 gallon tank. Where and how would I test it....

Re: Fuel gauge

At the Tank, ground out the wire from the gauge, it should Peg to Full...

Re: Fuel gauge

The easiest way to test it is to put a screwdriver over both terminals on the tank and see if the gauge jumps up to full. I had a problem with mine just yesterday and cleaned the wire ends and now it works.

Re: Fuel gauge

Interesting story about typing speed (actually two stories - both short). Took typing in high school and hit 65 words a minute in very short order so teacher had me doing other stuff. Was fun though because I was the only guy in a room full of gals. Joined the military and had to take a typing test for one of the schools I attended. Thought this would be "duck soup simple" so when the DI yelled "GO" I flew through the test only to notice when done that my fingers were one row off on the keys. This dumb-butt had to take a two week refresher but you can bet your bottom buck I passed it the next time. So much for showing off.

Oh that's nothing. When I took typing in school, I had to chisel the words in the flat stone faster than everybody else. And I wasn't setting close to the fireplace either and that made it all that much harder to see too... And the mistakes were the pits... I think I was able to type one letter per minute with a good sharpened chisel or softer flat stone...

Re: Fuel gauge

If I could butt in for a second, lol, I'm wondering if those testing procedures are safe with fuel in the tank?

Ayuh,.... So long as the gas is In the tank, it don't matter....

There'll be No sparks in the Testin' posted above,..

Ya test the Gauge with a test light or multimeter...

The sender wire at the tank, ya just ground out to the tank's ground wire...
there should be a ground wire, right at the sender... or the tank itself, if metal...

That's an eighth. That may not even show on the gauge. You need to get more fuel in there....

What you have there is a $150 gas tank.
When it reads, empty you have less than 10 gallons remaining, and it's time have the bow pointed at the the ramp!
