Fuel pump push rod?

I have a 5L 1995 0MC, (19' Four Winds),OEM fuel pump died. My manual states to slip a small screw driver under the push rod to support it. However after barely pulling out the old pump I could not feel the push rod, upon removal no push rod is visible. I'm wondering if my pump (3854053) even uses a push rod since it has a long lever. I've attached a picture of it.

Thats a ford motor, the pushrod is on a GM motor.

Are you looking at the factory manual or a seloc/haynes/clymer
