If you were to take a powerful magnet or even a grappling hook at most and bridge or over pass, you would probably be amazed at what you would pull up. lanterns, fishing rods and reels, tackle boxes, and even guns, so many things.

This spring during some flooding I was fishing in the Little Wichita river just above Lake Arrowhead. I was fishing with perch almost as big as my hand got a hard bite then nothing as I reeled it in to bait back up it was dragging like the perch was still on but when I got it to shore I needed a combination license because on my 3 O hook was a clay pigeon without even a chip missing out of it. I guess I felt it was a trophy it sits on my desk as I type.

funniest thing I ever caught was myself! I was salmon fishing at my favorite river. it was an hours drive from where I lived, and I was there waiting for daylight about an hour before dawn. I decided to put on a new fly while I was waiting and while pulling the knot tight with the tag end of the line in my teeth the line slipped out and the fly hooked deeply into my lip. I didn't want to go home and sure as hell wasn't leaving it in (can only imagine the laughing and joking at my expense) so I pulled it out very painfully before it got light enough for anyone else to see. ironically the very next year they brought in new rules that all hooks had to be barbless on salmon rivers!

another time we were out cod fishing and my sister inlaw said she had something really big on the line. I figured she was fooling around but when she finally got it up to the surface it was the front half of a cod! then we saw this 4 or 5 foot shark swim next to the boat, so I guess she really had something big on but ended up with half a small fish.

This isn't technically catching something but a funny story just the same. I was about 15 and was just out on the lake with a buddy tooling around. We see his grandfather fishing in a bay in a row boat. His grandfather was a big fisherman and was always out when they were up. My buddy's older brother was in the boat as well so we get the idea to agrevate the grandfather and the brother who was a bit of an a**. We go flying into the bay and circle their boat a few times to scare the fish and give them some waves to deal with. Nothing dangerous...just childish. Well, we are laughing like crazy because the grandfather, as planned, starts yelling at the brother because we are too far away to yell at. We take off and cruise around for another half hour or so. We docked my boat and went walking to his place ready to face our fate, we get there and there is is grandfather, but he's not pissed, he looks at us and just starts laughing. We were happy we weren't in trouble but we're perplexed just the same. He tells us to follow him around the house toward the lake. We round the corner and there hanging from the deck is a 3 foot plus northern pike on a stringer. Beautiful fish. Being 15 and a punk, I immediately say that I was driving the fish toward the boat. He gave me a look and grabbed the fish, spun it around, and there it was. I had hit the fish with my prop. He said after he calmed down he pulled anchor and started for home when he saw it floating a few feet away from his boat. I am of course guessing I hit the fish. It could have been someone else but it was too much of a coincidence to have not been my boat that got the fish.
