Hey all. I am posting on this forum again with a problem with the same motor that I posted with before. For those of you that have not looked at the previous post, I have a Sears Gamefisher 7.5 HP that is manufactured by Eska. I have finally gotten it running :D but then when it is in gear, the motor stalls when put into high speed. Any ideas/concerns? Please help!:)

Re: Gamefisher 7.5 HP

Have you cleaned carb yet? Have you checked, or replaced fuel pump? Try run ning it in a barrel/bucket of water. Elevate tank, and hose above motor. See if the condition improves. Idle speed (not mixture screw) may be set too low causing it to stall. Also idle mixture may need to be dialed in (rich or lean). Could be a combination of any of these. I just got 3 Eska's tuned up, and dialed in this week (video's on youtube). One needed a new fuel pump, the other 2 just needed idle mixture set, and idle speed adjusted.

Yes, I have cleaned out the whold carb. Where could I find the fuel pump? At the moment, I am using the reserve fuel tank that is connected directly to the motor. What I am having problems with, is when I put the motor in gear, and throttle up, it dies at around 1/2 open throttle. Any ideas?

Fuel pump element is inside carb. You have to unbolt carb to get to it. It's a round, red piece. Looks like a small rubber tube.

Re: Gamefisher 7.5 HP

You should carefully inspect it for small cracks. I just replaced a bad one this weekend. Looked good until I pinched it with my fingers. Showed up good then. I don't think fuel pump is used when running off of onboard fuel tank, only when external tank is used. Gravity should feed carb when onboard tank is used. Not to sound like a broken record, but high speed jet may need cleaned. When you take off float bowl, the screw that holds bowl on is the main (high speed) jet. There should be a small hole in one (or both) sides of jet. Make sure there is no crud plugging that orifice. If it's plugged, it can do what you described. Also check fuel inlet "block" where hose attaches to carb. 2 phillips screws hold it on. There will be a flapper valve, and gasket behind plate. Make sure flapper valve flaps are NOT curled up. They should fit flat against block. If they don't seal, it could give you problems. Behind that gasket (if you can carefully remove it) is a screen. If debris from tank got through hose, it will gather in that screen. Carefully with a toothpick pull screen up. After cleaning, just push it in with finger. That cloged screen could also cause your condition. Keep me posted.

Yea. I just got home and asked my neighbor who used to be his "mechanic" for his own outboard. He said that the low speed idle jet should/needs to be adjusted.

Oh, then yes I did clean that out.

Those things are notorious for developing cracks and leaking. Even with the onboard tank, the pump must be working and intact or the engine will flood. Same with the flapper valve under the fuel intake flange. Both must be in good order, whether you're using the internal tank or an external tank.

If they're not, the engine will flood and not run properly, if at all.

Sorry about the mis-information CATransplant. I didn't know that the fuel pump had to be good for on tank operation. I stand corrected.

With the orange so called "fuel pump" is there supposed to be a cut in it? Mine does, but it is so clean that it looks like a machine might have done it, not like with a knife and it is all curvy.

Nope. No cut. Yours has split and is unusable. The only opening is at the end.

This peice, by your info, i belive is usable because there is a cut in it, like it could be filled up like a cup of water.
